Course description

These 2 hour briefing sessions will cover the themes and learning from latest national and local Serious Case Reviews (SCR). This course used to be called East Sussex Serious Case Reviews- Briefing Sessions.

Important note: It is essential that you have undertaken the Safeguarding Children e-learning prior to coming on this course (see additional information under full details), or you may be turned away.

Training objectives

This briefing will cover:

  • why SCRs are undertaken

  • themes from reviewing national SCRs in past 5 years and implications for practice.

Learning from recent East Sussex SCRs which covers topics of:

  • domestic violence (relating to Child P SCR); and exploitative relationships

  • working with children who abuse drugs and are resistant to intervention

  • working with children who go missing across local authority boundaries

  • working with 16/17 year olds (as relevant to Child M SCR); and neglect (as relevant to current SCR).

Preparation and Follow Up
Before attending any LSCB training course, participants must attend a Basic Signs and Indicators Child Protection course provided/commissioned by their own organisation or have accessed the Safeguarding Children online e-learning training course. To complete this course go to the e-learning section on the East Sussex Learning Portal, enter the Children’s Workforce channel and click Safeguarding.

Refreshments are provided however lunch is not.
