Training objectives

Motivational Interviewing is a short-term, goal-oriented, strengths-based approach, offering a practical tool to work with clients to increase their motivation, resolve, and self belief to promote positive change. It can be used effectively along with other techniques, such as Solution Focused Brief Therapy.

  • Explore participants' and clients' processes of change, ambivalence about change and resistance to change and how it relates to theory.

  • Manage discord and learn to ‘dance’ with it
