Course description

For practitioners to gain an understanding of the sexual exploitation of boys and young men in Sussex. We will look at how the community, professionals and children and young people themselves often respond differently to boys when it comes to child sexual exploitation and what we can do about it.

Important note: It is essential that you have undertaken the Safeguarding Children e-learning prior to coming on this course (see additional information under full details), or you may be turned away.

Training objectives
Learning outcomes

After completing this course you will:

  • understand that boys and young men can also be victims of child sexual exploitation (CSE)

  • be able to identify and respond to victims appropriately

  • challenge gender bias in community and professionals' responses

  • understand the key themes relating to CSE and gender in Sussex

  • know where to access resources for working with boys and young men around CSE.

Preparation and Follow Up
Before attending any LSCB training course, participants must attend a Basic Signs and Indicators Child Protection course provided/commissioned by their own organisation or have accessed the Safeguarding Children online e-learning training course.
