Course description

The aim of this course is to enable staff to learn about the structure, roles and responsibilities of the statutory agencies involved in child protection.

Important note: It is essential that you have undertaken the Safeguarding Children e-learning prior to coming on this course (see additional information under full details), or you may be turned away.

Training objectives
This course is aimed at all newly qualified or inexperienced staff and front line professionals wishing to understand more about thresholds for intervention. This will include Managers, from East Sussex County Council Children’s Services Social Care, Early Help, Children’s Services Education, Adult Services, Youth Offending Team. East Sussex Schools, Police, Health, Probation and the Voluntary and Independent sectors.
Learning outcomes
Learning Outcomes:

  • participants will have the opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the single and multi-agency approach and processes relating to Safeguarding and Child Protection

  • they will learn about thresholds for intervention for all agencies

  • they will learn about early help and child protection processes for children/families.

A maximum of three representatives from each team may have a confirmed place and further bookings will be put on a wait list.
Preparation and Follow Up
Before attending any LSCB training course, participants must attend a Basic Signs and Indicators Child Protection course provided/commissioned by their own organisation or have accessed the Safeguarding Children online e-learning training course. To complete this course go to the e-learning section on the East Sussex Learning Portal, enter the Children’s Workforce channel and click Safeguarding.

Refreshments are provided however lunch is not.
