Safeguarding Children in Education: Refresher Safeguarding Governors Responsibilities
East Sussex Children’s Service and the East Sussex Safeguarding Children Partnership (ESSCP) has set an expectation that the named safeguarding link governors attend, prior to or shortly after appointment, in-depth face to face training delivered by the East Sussex Governor and Clerking Services which will be updated every three years.
This session will provide safeguarding link governors with a refresher of the knowledge of how to work effectively with the school’s designated safeguarding lead (DSL) and ensure the governing body's responsibilities are being met.
By the end of the refresher course it is anticipated that safeguarding link governors will:
- Know the key aspects of monitoring responsibilities of the governing board
- Understand the benefits and effectiveness of a safeguarding link governor’s checklist
- Have a practical approach planned to work effectively with the school's DSL
- Have a practical approach to reporting outcomes to the governing board
You will receive a certificate of attendance for verification for Ofsted on completion of the evaluation form at the end of the event.
This course is for all safeguarding link governors who need their training refreshing in East Sussex maintained primary, secondary and special schools, East Sussex primary, secondary and special academies, free schools and independent schools.
Refreshments: Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.
