Course description

This workshop aims to provide approved foster carers with an opportunity and safe space to have open conversations on how to care for children from Minoritised racial or cultural backgrounds, as well as working with children in care from white backgrounds to become anti-racist allys.

Training objectives
Learning outcomes

During this course you will learn to:

  • To be able to evidence sensitivity and understanding of the impact and implications of race, religion and ethnicity on the day to day lives of children in care.

  • To be aware of and able to identify and act on issues relating to race, religion and ethnicity as they impact on children and families.

  • To understand terminology pertinent to racial, religious  and ethnic injustice and to be confident in using appropriate terminology.

  • To be aware of and able to support the development of positive identity in children and families affected by issues of racial, religious and ethnic diversity.

  • To be able to identify racism and discrimination and to be equipped to challenge this appropriately and effectively.
