Course description

This conference aims to share best practice in relation to safeguarding provision in schools. A range of speakers and workshops will showcase approaches to improving provision in schools and responding to local and national priorities such as neglect, mental health and emotional wellbeing, and online safety.

Safeguarding is everybody’s business; the conference will support school leaders in improving safeguarding provision, keeping up to date and ensuring compliance with the latest legislation and frameworks, and providing access to a range of examples of best and innovative practice across a range of challenging agendas.




Training objectives

The agenda for this conference reflects feedback from our DSL networks and addresses a wide range of major issues such as:

  • Mental health and well-being of pupils

  • On-line safety

  • Improving parental engagement and handling complaints about safeguarding

  • Managing pupils who display sexually harmful behaviour

  • The importance of DSL self-care and supervision

  • The pivotal role of schools in safeguarding

  • Understanding and monitoring neglect

  • Effective relationships and sex education and its key role in safeguarding students

  • The emerging picture of child exploitation in East Sussex.
