Course description

This course will enable professionals to explore current research and practice in relation to children and young people’s use of mobile technologies. This course is aimed at all front line professionals, including managers from East Sussex County Council Children’s Services Social Care, Early Help, Children’s Services Education, Schools, Adult Services, and Youth Offending Team. East Sussex Police, Health, Probation and the Voluntary and Independent sectors.


Important note: It is essential that you have undertaken the Safeguarding Children e-learning prior to coming on this course (see additional information under full details), or you may be turned away.

Learning outcomes
By the end of the course participants will:


  • explore how children use technology

  • address the benefits alongside the risks

  • explore different methods of keeping children safe

  • identify various resources and tools available

  • identify the added risks for vulnerable children, e.g. children with learning disabilities.

A maximum of three representatives from each team may have a confirmed place and further bookings will be put on a wait list.

Preparation and Follow Up
Before attending any LSCB training course, participants must attend a Basic Signs and Indicators Child Protection course provided/commissioned by their own organisation or have accessed the Safeguarding Children online e-learning training course.

To complete this course go to the e-learning section on the East Sussex Learning Portal, enter the Children’s Workforce channel and click Safeguarding.
