Support groups provide a much needed opportunity to talk about fostering issues with other carers. They are attended by carers who have a wealth of experience, knowledge and expertise which they have accumulated through many years in fostering. The support group can offer an opportunity to share experiences and provide invaluable support to each other. Some of the support groups
will have designated speakers to share information or address a training need.
The foster carer support groups run by ESCC are here for several reasons:
• To help us as a service hear and respond to your views as part of our fostering community
• To help you, as carers, to pass on your experiences and to learn different ways of dealing with situations or behaviours you may have had with
a fostered child
• To grow and learn as a group and share your knowledge with each other
• To have a coffee & a chat and an enjoyable time with others who have similar fostering experiences (and possibly a couple of custard creams)!!
