Course description

This course will enable participants to assess risk and to explore inter-agency responses to concerns regarding Fabricated Induced Illnesses.

Training objectives

This course will enable participants to assess risk and to explore inter-agency responses to concerns regarding Fabricated Induced Illnesses. The course will cover making and/or receiving referrals regarding child care and child protection issues from staff in Children’s Social Care, Education, Schools, Early Years, PVI (Private, Voluntary Independent), Health, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), Mental Health Teams and Youth Offending Teams, who are working with children and families or staff from Adult Social Care/Mental Health working with adults who have children.

Learning outcomes

Participants will learn about procedures when responding to Fabricated Induced Illnesses, the importance of early identification and detailed chronologies when Fabricated Induced Illness is suspected, and histories of Fabricated Induced Illness from the victim’s perspective.

Preparation and Follow Up
Before attending any LSCB training course, participants must attend a Basic Signs and Indicators Child Protection course provided/commissioned by their own organisation or have accessed the Safeguarding Children online e-learning training course. To complete this course go to the e-learning section on the East Sussex Learning Portal, enter the Children’s Workforce channel and click Safeguarding.
