This course has been cancelled whilst work is carried out to convert this training so that it can be delivered as interactive virtual classroom training via Microsoft Teams. There are other sessions taking place later in the year.

This course will explain the role of the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and to give practitioners the skills to undertake the role within a childcare setting. The course facilitates achieving excellence in Child Protection and Safeguarding by giving tools to embed this into an establishment's organisational culture.

Please ensure you are familiar with the Continuum of Need and the Indicators, both attached for your information.

There is an expectation that as the DSL you know the signs, indicators and pre-disposing risk factors of abuse. If you are unsure of these please ensure you access the online safeguarding children and young people course before you attend this training. You can access this training by clicking on the Elearning tab at the top of this page.

If you have already attended this training and need to update your training you must attend the EYFS: Designated Safeguarding Leads Training for Childcare Settings – Refresher Training. The refresher course has been reviewed to support experienced DSL's who have attended the initial training. This initial course is specifically designed to meet the needs of new DSL's.

Code: EYFS083 EYFS : Teaching Assistant Training - Effective Interactions and Observations in the EYFS

This is the course that was due to run in the spring term. Following current government guidance for social distancing, this course will now be running as two live webinars with the opportunity for questions to be asked during the session.

The course usually costs £90, however as it is now online training we are offering the course at a special price of £30 for this year only.

The course aims to support teaching assistants in understanding the impact of high quality interactions on young children's learning and how these, along with effective observations, support assessment in the EYFS. There will be opportunities for delegates to practise and hone their acquired skills in school between sessions and to share these with the course tutors to discuss and refine.
