Code: EYCP417 EYFS : Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL) Training for Childcare Settings - Refresher Training (Virtual)

NB : please note that this training is now live interactive virtual classroom training and will be delivered via Zoom. This was originally to be run as face-to-face training. Once you have successfully booked a place on this event, you will receive a separate invite with a link to the Zoom meeting. This course will update the knowledge of the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), including childminders, with the aim of renewing their DSL certificate (valid for 2 years). The course will facilitate achieving excellence in Child Protection and Safeguarding by giving tools to embed this into an organisation’s culture.

Please ensure you are familiar with the Continuum of Need and the Indicators, both attached for your information.

There is an expectation that as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) you know the signs, indicators and pre-disposing risk factors of abuse. If you are unsure of these please ensure you access the online safeguarding children and young people course before you attend this training. This session is a live interactive virtual event, delivered through Zoom, for Administrative and support staff.

It will enable administrative and support staff who work directly with families to be more confident and capable when holding difficult conversations. 

Once you have successfully booked a place on this event, full joining instructions and guidance will be provided with your confirmation email.

Participants will be introduced to a new set of practice principles that have been designed by East Sussex practitioners and consider how to integrate holding difficult conversations with families with Solution Focus and Motivational Interviewing techniques.

This new 6-week programme provides an introduction to Mindfulness for case-holding practitioners, including social workers and keyworkers who need to make home visits. It will enable you to both learn how mindfulness may support your work with children, young people and families and to try out daily mindfulness practice as a 6-week experiment.
 
This live interactive course will be delivered using Microsoft Teams plus self-guided learning activities using a multi-media course website.
