Support groups provide a much needed opportunity to talk about fostering issues with other carers. They are attended by carers who have a wealth of experience, knowledge and expertise which they have accumulated through many years in fostering. The support group can offer an opportunity to share experiences and provide invaluable support to each other. Some of the support groups will have designated speakers to share information or address a training need.

Code: CWB163A-I Mindfulness for Resilience and Wellbeing (EVENT FULL)

This evidence based mindfulness programme offers an opportunity to learn a range of mindfulness skills to help equip you to thrive in busy and challenging work settings. This course has been evaluated independently and shown to have positive benefits in terms of reductions in stress and improved psychological wellbeing. Other identified benefits included increased compassion and a possible reduction in compassion fatigue; this has clear implications for the quality of relationships with service users.
 
Important note: The trainer will contact participants in advance of the course as part of the application process. Participants are expected to attend the scheduled Saturday retreat session - see additional information.

Domestic abuse is a significant feature of many families that come to the attention of family support services.

This workshop seeks to simplify the complex risk assessment safety planning and intervention planning process, helping managers support their staff working with cases of Domestic Abuse.

This event forms part of the managers strand of the thematic learning pathway for domestic abuse. Improving staff competance in this area of work is a key priority for Children's Services.
