Code: AS718 Assessment : New Key Stage 2 Writing Assessment Support Event - FREE!

These FREE interactive events aim to support Year 6 teachers to identify gaps in their pupils' writing and develop strategies to move them forward effectively. There will be opportunities to share good practice and effective assessment approaches between schools and teachers will be supported to develop their pedagogy and practice. The sessions will be facilitated by trained moderators and supported by colleagues from the Local Authority. The aim is that all primary and junior schools will send at least one Year 6 teacher to one of these new, supportive events.

The national Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Code of Practice applies to maintained schools and academies. It says in paragraph 6.3: There should be a member of the governing body or a sub-committee with specific oversight of the school’s arrangements for SEN and disability.

This session will provide governors with SEND responsibilities the knowledge to work effectively with the schools SEND Lead and ensure the governing body's repsonsibilities are being met.

Code: CWA256 Holding Difficult Conversations with Families - Workshop (EVENT FULL)

These new format events will support staff who work directly with families to be more confident and capable when holding difficult conversations. 

Participants will be introduced to a new set of practice principles that have been designed by East Sussex practitioners and consider how to integrate holding difficult conversations with families with Solution Focus and Motivational Interviewing techniques.

All registered participants are required to watch this 16 minute introductory video from the trainer Phil Jones in advance of participating in this workshop.

It will explore the reasons for self harming and provide an understanding of mental health issues associated with self harming. It will also introduce participants to the East Sussex Multi-Agency Self Harm protocol.
