This course will explain the role of the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and to give practitioners the skills to undertake the role within a childcare setting. The course facilitates achieving excellence in Child Protection and Safeguarding by giving tools to embed this into an establishment's organisational culture.
Please ensure you are familiar with the Continuum of Need and the Indicators, both attached for your information.
There is an expectation that as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) you know the signs, indicators and pre-disposing risk factors of abuse. If you are unsure of these please ensure you access the online safeguarding children and young people course before you attend this training. You can access this training by clicking on the Elearning tab at the top of this page.
If you have already attended this training and need to update your training you must attend the EYFS: Designated Safeguarding Leads Training for Childcare Settings – Refresher Training. The refresher course has been reviewed to support experienced DSL's who have attended the initial training.
