Code: LSC683 ESSCP: Girls, Gangs and County Lines Training (Virtual) (EVENT FULL)

This virtual training event will equip professionals to better recognise young women who are affected by gangs and county lines activity, and to understand how they experience youth violence, criminal and sexual exploitation. Furthermore, professionals are better equipped to support these young women, having heard from Abianda former service users about what works in engaging with young women.

Abianda is a London-based social enterprise that works with young women and girls affected by gangs and county lines, and the professionals who support them. Despite rising awareness of gangs and youth violence, gang-affected young women can remain a hidden group in our communities. Research (Pearce and Pitts, 2011), and our practice, evidence that specialist knowledge and practice around working with gang-affected young women does not tend to exist within statutory services. Young women affected by gangs therefore do not believe services understand their experiences nor can services keep them safe (Firmin, 2010, 2013).

The sessions are relevant for colleagues who work with children and young people as well as vulnerable adults. It is essential that you have undertaken the Safeguarding Children e-learning prior to coming on this course (see additional information under full details), or you may be turned away.

Important note. Full joining instructions, including links to access the training and guidance will be attached to the bottom of your confirmation email. Please ensure you read these prior to the course start date and keep them in a safe place.
