Code: AS835 Assessment: Assessment and Reporting Arrangements at the End of Key Stage 2: what every teacher needs to know

This course sets out the statutory requirements for assessment of, and reporting on, pupils' achievements at the end of Key Stage 2 (KS2) in 2019/20. It is primarily aimed at teachers in Year 5 and/or Year 6, although teachers in Years 3 and 4 would also benefit. It is suitable for both experienced teachers and those new to the profession, or new to KS2.

The course will cover:

  • key changes for 2019/20
  • approaches to effective assessment
  • standardisation and moderation (both formal and informal)
  • administration of, and preparation for, the end of KS2 tests and the multiplication check;
  • analysis of past end of KS2 test papers
  • strategies and approaches to ensuring the best outcomes for all pupils.

Headteachers are invited to attend the first morning session, free of charge, with their teachers to ensure that key messages are clear and consistent across the school.

Code: ESC/20/10 First Aid at Work (3 Day) (EVENT FULL)

The First Aid at Work course, covered over 3 days, will qualify you as a First Aider and will enable you to deal with an accident or injury in the workplace. It will qualify you to diagnose a variety of possible illnesses and injuries and will enable you to assess the need to seek further medical attention.

At the end of the course there is a written exam and trainees must demonstrate the skills and knowledge learnt during the course, when there will be some hands on floor work. Trainees will receive a certificate at the end of the course and the qualification lasts for three years.

LCS Search and View is a half day of training for East Sussex County Council users to familiarise themselves with the Children’s Liquid Logic platform. This course is designed to show you how to navigate Liquid Logic, find clients and view case data and includes viewing scanned images held within ECaseFile. 

This course is for anyone joining an ESCC team that uses LCS or EHM whether to view client data or input data into the system. 

As a new staff member your manager must request that a Liquid Logic account is created for you before attending this course. When the account is created you will receive an e-mail invitation to book onto this course. Existing users are welcome to book if they wish to refresh their skills. 

You must complete this training in order to be able to access the LIVE system. The trainer will activate your account on attendance.

This is an in-house half day follow up workshop with the Principal Social Worker, Nicola McGeown for practitioners who have attended the one day Risk Assessment and Analysis training course delivered by ‘Reconstruct’ to explore how they are applying the learning in practice, with reference to ‘real’ current assessment casework. Delegates who have booked places on the Risk Assessment and Analysis courses on 3 and 9 December 2019 (Course references CWB301 and CWB302) expected to book on, but the session is also open to practitioners who have previously completed the training.

Code: GOV775 Safeguarding Children in Education: Refresher Safeguarding Governors Responsibilities

East Sussex Children’s Service and the East Sussex Safeguarding Children Partnership (ESSCP) has set an expectation that the named safeguarding link governors attend, prior to or shortly after appointment, in-depth face to face training delivered by the East Sussex Governor and Clerking Services which will be updated every three years.

This session will provide safeguarding link governors with a refresher of the knowledge of how to work effectively with the school’s designated safeguarding lead (DSL) and ensure the governing body's responsibilities are being met.
