Inform and update governors on current local and national issues relating to schools and the work of the Governing Board. A school to school approach, combined with the increased focus on school governance, will require governing boards to consider how all governors can work collectively, not just in their own schools, but across the wider ‘governor community’. The forums will facilitate governor networking and information gathering through high quality presentations that facilitate discussion and information sharing among peers.

The Autumn round of Governor Local Area Forums will focus on Therapeutic Thinking.

Code: ESC/20/613 Records Management Master Class

This training course gives staff in-depth knowledge and understanding of the key concepts in records management, how managing records aids compliance with legislation and business functions while enabling more efficient working, and the practical approaches for gaining control over records.

The Master Class is split into four sessions across four weeks, and covers:

  • Definitions and concepts, and what they mean in practice.
  • Records management and the law.
  • Retention schedules and how to dispose of records.
  • Key tools and methods for organising your records effectively.

These relate to managing records in all formats, including paper and digital.

Each Master Class session will be delivered remotely, via MS Teams. A short activity task will be set at the end of each session, for participants to complete and submit before the next one.

Throughout the course there are opportunities to raise records management issues and concerns you may have about the records your team handles. The trainer and colleagues in other teams and departments are on hand to find solutions and discuss best practice tools and how to implement them effectively.
