Code: AS831 Assessment: Assessment and Reporting Arrangements at the End of Key Stage 2: what every teacher needs to know

This course sets out the statutory requirements for assessment of, and reporting on, pupils' achievements at the end of Key Stage 2 (KS2) in 2019/20. It is primarily aimed at teachers in Year 5 and/or Year 6, although teachers in Years 3 and 4 would also benefit. It is suitable for both experienced teachers and those new to the profession, or new to KS2.

The course will cover:

  • key changes for 2019/20
  • approaches to effective assessment
  • standardisation and moderation (both formal and informal)
  • administration of, and preparation for, the end of KS2 tests and the multiplication check
  • analysis of past end of KS2 test papers
  • strategies and approaches to ensuring the best outcomes for all pupils.

Headteachers are invited to attend the first morning session, free of charge, with their teachers to ensure that key messages are clear and consistent across the school.

Code: EYCP391 EYFS : Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL) Training for Childcare Settings - Refresher Training

This course will update the knowledge of the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), including childminders, with the aim of renewing their DSL certificate (valid for 2 years). The course will facilitate achieving excellence in Child Protection and Safeguarding by giving tools to embed this into an organisation’s culture.

Please ensure you are familiar with the Continuum of Need and the Indicators, the Prevent Duty guidance and Information on British Values, all attached for your information.

There is an expectation that as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) you know the signs, indicators and pre-disposing risk factors of abuse. If you are unsure of these please ensure you access the online safeguarding children course before you attend this training. This course is designed to support leaders/managers (currently and prospective) in preschool settings to understand, reflect on and develop effective Leadership and Management skills in Early Years Settings, including childminders with assistants.

Between the 2 sessions, delegates will be required to undertake tasks in their settings based on their learning on day 1. Issues arising from these tasks will be addressed during day 2.

Code: HS318 Health and Safety: Premises Co-ordinator Training

This course advises Premises Coordinators of their role in managing the risks associated with the premises and the management of contractors on site. This course includes responsibilities arising from health and safety legislation, including the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations (CDM 2015) which applies to all building and construction work e.g. new build, demolition, refurbishment, extensions, conversions, repair and maintenance.

SharePoint is a half day of training for East Sussex County Council users to familiarise themselves with the SharePoint platform.
This course is for anyone joining an ESCC team that uses Sharepoint libraries to store team information and who has not used Sharepoint before. The course will also cover managing your own Onedrive site used for storing personal documentation.
