This course provides essential information, guidance and professional development for Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs).  This new enhanced 2 day training programme will provide staff with the skills, knowledge and understanding to undertake the role within an educational setting, ensuring compliance with Keeping Children Safe in Education September 2016, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2015 as well as locally developed guidance and documentation. In order to gain your certificate you must attend both days training, however you may start in the role of DSL after completion of the first day.

These new format events are designed to support staff who work directly with families to be more confident and capable when holding
difficult conversations. Participants will be introduced to a new set of practice principles that have been designed by East Sussex Social Care and Early Help practitioners.

Participants will consider how to integrate holding difficult conversations with families with Solution Focus and Motivational Interviewing techniques.
