Code: LSC685 ESSCP: Working with Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities - Safeguarding, Risk Planning and Intervention (Virtual) (EVENT FULL)

The term Gypsy, Roma and Traveller is a collective term used to describe a wide variety of cultural and ethnic groups. There are many ways in which ethnicity may be established: these include language, nomadic way of life, and crucially, self-identification. Defining a person as a Gypsy, Roma or Traveller is a matter of self-ascription and does not exclude those who are living in houses. Ethnic identity is not lost when members of the communities settle, but it continues and adapts to the new circumstances.

The training will be delivered by trainers from the Gypsy,Roma and Traveller Teaching and Learning Provision, Children's Services Single Point of Advice and Youth Support Teams.

Important note: It is essential that you have completed the Safeguarding Children eLearning and the pre-course learning, prior to coming on this course (see additional information under full details), or you may be turned away.

Full joining instructions, including links to access the training and guidance will be attached to the bottom of your confirmation email. Please ensure you read these prior to the course start date and keep them in a safe place.

Please ensure you are logged in and ready to go at least 15 minutes before the start of the course so you allow some time to resolve and technical issues, as we are unable to provide assistance on the day.
