Code: ESC/20/199 Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace (EVENT FULL)

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) in the workplace is a two day training course which teaches people how to identify, understand and help their ESCC colleagues who may be experiencing a mental health issue. 

You’ll learn to recognise warning signs of mental ill health, and develop the skills and confidence to approach and support someone whilst keeping yourself safe.

The course covers how to support someone to access the resources they might need for recovery or successful management of symptoms. This could include self-help books or websites, accessing therapy services through their GP or place of work, online self-referral, support groups, and more.

It is essential that your line manager is made aware of the following at the time of, and before approving, your application

What managers are agreeing to when approving their staff member’s attendance on this course:

  • To releasing your staff member for the two day training course and any post support sessions (approx. 2 sessions lasting a maximum of 3 hours each).
  • To releasing your staff member for related meetings (approximately 1 or 2 per year).
  • Allowing time to support colleagues when needed (often at short notice).

Rich learning starts with a rich text. This course will give delegates the opportunity to engage with a wide range of picture books, short films, rich fiction and high quality non-fiction texts in order to create learning which inpires a love of reading and genuine engagement in writing. There will be a focus on KS2 texts but the principles of this approach are applicable to all learners.

Code: CWA293AB Adopting a Whole Family Approach to Domestic Abuse and Promoting Safety - Professional Level Workshop

This popular course is essential for practitioners from Children's Services and Adult Social Care, education, early help, the police and health, to review, update and consolidate core knowledge about domestic abuse. 

This two day ‘professional level’ workshop is part of the domestic abuse thematic learning pathway and will give an overarching and updated view on current research, theory and practice in the field. It is relevant for all East Sussex children's services practitioners working with children, young people and families assessed as level 3 or 4 on the Continuum of Need.

Important note: You will need to have undertaken all three foundation level domestic abuse e-learning modules prior to attending this course (see additional information under full details) or you may be turned away.

Code: CWB286A-i Mindfulness for Resilience and Wellbeing

This evidence based mindfulness programme offers an opportunity to learn a range of mindfulness skills to help equip you to thrive in busy and challenging work settings. This course has been evaluated independently and shown to have positive benefits in terms of reductions in stress and improved psychological wellbeing. Other identified benefits included increased compassion and a possible reduction in compassion fatigue; this has clear implications for the quality of relationships with service users.
 
Important note: The trainer will contact participants in advance of the course as part of the application process. Participants are expected to complete daily home practice and attend the scheduled Saturday retreat session - see additional information.
