Code: AS834 Assessment: Assessment and Reporting Arrangements at the End of Key Stage 1: what every teacher needs to know

This course sets out the statutory requirements for assessment of, and reporting on, pupils' achievements at the end of Key Stage 1 (KS1) in 2019/20. It is primarily aimed at teachers in Year 2 and/or Year 1, although teachers in Years 3 and 4 would also benefit. It is suitable for both experienced teachers and those new to the profession, or new to KS1.

The course will cover:

  • key changes for 2019/20
  • approaches to effective assessment
  • standardisation and moderation (both formal and informal)
  • administration of, and preparation for, the end of KS1 tests and the phonics screening check
  • analysis of past end of KS1 test papers
  • strategies and approaches to ensuring the best outcomes for all pupils.

Headteachers are invited to attend the first morning session, free of charge, with their teachers to ensure that key messages are clear and consistent across the school.

It addresses some of the challenging behaviours and offers varied coping skills and strategies. It is also provides an ideal refresher course for more experienced carers.

This course aims to enable delegates to manage safety effectively in accordance with legislation and best practice.

This course is externally moderated and validated. The course will assist delegates in:

  • working more safely
  • managing safety effectively
  • contributing to the overall safety of their organisation.

Delegates must attend all three days, as an assessment is incorporated at the end of the course, and a practical assessment will need to be completed.

This Interactive course will help to raise confidence and competence. You will gain an insight into your own training style and learn tips and techniques to develop and deliver a high impact and engaging training experience.  You will gain experience of delivering micro-training sessions and receive feedback to help you develop your skills and confidence. 

 

Due to the highly interactive nature of the workshop, you will be required to bring a short (5-10 minute) training session or part of a training session that you have pre-prepared. This should be relevant to your role as you will apply the learning from the course to refine and develop this session.
