Code: GDPR72 Data Protection: Refresher for School Staff (Virtual)

These training sessions are intended to help school data protection leads and staff maintain the knowledge and skills they need to ensure that their school is compliant with the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018. This virtual training session will provide a brief refresher on all the key parts of the legislation and a reminder of the school’s obligations under data protection. It is aimed at staff who have completed data protection training in the past, but would like a refresher.

The session will give a brief reminder on all the key points of data protection, including:
• Data Protection Principles
• Lawful bases
• Consent
• Data subject rights
• Data breaches
• Technical and organisational measures

The session will draw on real examples taken from local schools to ensure that the content is as appropriate and specific as possible. Experienced Information Governance Officers will also be available through the online chat function to provide advice and support throughout the session.

Code: GDPR71 Data Protection: The Basics (Virtual)

This introductory level session covers all the practical aspects of data protection that all school staff need to be aware of. It will draw upon real examples taken from local schools to ensure that the content is as appropriate and specific as possible. Ideal for any new starters who are new to data protection in schools.

Experienced Information Governance Officers will also be available through the online chat function to provide advice and support throughout the session.

These sessions will be run online using Microsoft Teams, however you do not need to have this software installed in order to take part. The sessions will be accessible through a hyperlink, which will be emailed out to all participants before the event and can therefore be accessed on any device with internet access, either through a web browser or through Teams itself.

This virtual classroom course delivered via Zoom will update the knowledge of the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), including childminders, with the aim of renewing their DSL certificate (valid for 2 years). The course will facilitate achieving excellence in Child Protection and Safeguarding by giving tools to embed this into an organisation’s culture.

Please ensure that you are familiar with the course materials attached to your booking confirmation before the course.

There is an expectation that as the DSL you know the signs, indicators and pre-disposing risk factors of abuse. If you are unsure of these please ensure you access the online safeguarding children and young people course before you attend this training. Code: ESC/21/275 ILM Level 3 Award in Coaching Fast Track

PLEASE NOTE - this is now delivered remotely via MS Teams over four half day sessions. See Additional Information below for detailed times and dates.

Have you learnt coaching skills through our one day Coaching Skills (previously An Introduction to Coaching) or the two day Coaching for Managers course? Would you like to improve your skills and gain more practice?

If so the ILM Level 3 Award in Coaching could be for you. This course is designed to give you an in depth knowledge of coaching skills and of the tools you can use in your coaching practice. You will also be required to complete 12 hours of supervised coaching to practically apply the tools and skills. Completion of this course will qualify you to become a member of the workplace coaching pool and we will be able to refer potential "coachees" from across the organisation to you.

Typically it can take between six months and one year to complete the course.

By attending our 2-day Coaching for Managers programme, managers will have covered some of the knowledge element of the Level 3 coaching programme and a considerable amount of the skills element.

Therefore all managers who have completed the 2-day programme or the 1 day Coaching Skills are invited to fast track through the ILM Level 3 Award in Coaching.

As part of this course you will be required to find a "coachee" to practice your skills with. Before starting please identify someone that you can either work with yourself, or that you can swap with another person in the group.

Induction for ESCC Managers provides an opportunity to virtually meet Chief Officers and pick up on any queries relating to your new role as a Manager at ESCC. During the event you will 'meet' with managers from other departments in the Council making some useful contacts and establishing networks to help support you through the early months of your management career.

The training will be delivered via Microsoft teams. Delegates will receive a calendar invite in order to attend.

Tim Holtam runs the Brighton Table Tennis Club, with a mission to “To inspire everyone to be a champion, instil a lifelong love for table tennis and a positive sense of community within all our players”. Founded in 2007, it’s based on a belief that table tennis can be used as a powerful tool in engaging people of all ages and transforming lives. Today the club has its own full time centre and runs over 200 tables across the city in parks, squares, schools, sheltered housing schemes, a centre for homeless people, sports centres, a psychiatric hospital and three prisons outside the city.

High-quality induction ensures that new governors and trustees can hit the ground running. This networking session will support the induction process for new governors by providing an opportunity for new governors to come together to network and to raise and discuss any questions or issues they have with other new governors and with members of the East Sussex Governors' Forum.
