This targeted training session includes specific and detailed guidance on the Clerk’s responsibilities, key resources and best practice related to complaints management. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss and explore a range of complaints scenarios. The content is directly aligned with the ESCC model Complaints Policy & Toolkit and includes guidance to Clerks on when and how to contact GCS for further advice for more complex complaints.

Re-imagining child protection and moving towards more humane practice and understanding impact of poverty.
Brigid Featherstone will deliver a workshop for Heads of Service and Operations Managers with a focus on supporting participants to explore what is working well currently and where action is required.
This is one of a series of stand-alone topic-based master classes delivered by an expert in their field. It will be followed by a session for Operations Managers on 25 April 2022 with Nicola McGeown, providing facilitated structured discussion/peer supervision. Booking secures a place on both sessions.
The follow up group session has been tailored for Operations Managers, who should ensure both the workshop and follow up sessions are in their diaries. Heads of Service are not expected to attend the second session.

On successfully completing the course candidates will be able to state the regulations covering school maintenance, precautions to be taken when performing their duties. The course will provide a basic understanding of Health & safety at Work Act, Provision of Work Equipment Regulations and PPE along with other legislation and acts. It also highlights decision making on candidates own limitations.

This workshop is a half day workshop for Early Help staff.

This reflective workshop, delivered by Aaron Clarke on behalf of Diversity Resource International, will provide an opportunity to explore issues around race, ethnicity and religious diversity, enabling you and your team to improve professional practice when working with families, children and young people.
Participants are required to complete the Racial, Ethnic and National Equality Foundation Module e-learning via the East Sussex Learning Portal prior to undertaking this workshop.

‘Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) in the Workplace’ is a two day accredited training course which teaches people how to identify, understand and help their ESCC colleagues who may be experiencing a mental health issue.
You’ll learn to recognise warning signs of mental ill health, and develop the skills and confidence to approach and support someone whilst keeping yourself safe.
The course covers how to support someone to access the resources they might need for recovery or successful management of symptoms. This could include self-help books or websites, accessing therapy services through their GP or place of work, online self-referral, support groups, and much more.
It is essential that your line manager is made aware of the following at the time of, and before approving, your application.

Have you learnt coaching skills through our Coaching Skills course (previously An Introduction to Coaching) or the Coaching for Managers course? Would you like to improve your skills and gain more practice and become a member of the ESCC Coaching Network?
If so the ILM Level 3 Award in Coaching could be for you. This course is designed to give you an in depth knowledge of coaching skills and of the tools you can use in your coaching practice. You will also be required to complete 6 hours of supervised coaching to practically apply the tools and skills. Completion of this course will qualify you to become a member of the workplace coaching pool and we will be able to refer potential "coachees" from across the organisation to you.
Typically it can take six to nine months to complete the course.
As part of this course you will be required to find a "coachee" to practice your skills with. Before starting please identify someone that you can either work with yourself, or that you can swap with another person in the group.
