Code: CWC/18/383 Foster Care: Fostering Changes Under 12's (Cancelled)

The Fostering Changes Programme was established in 1999 by the Conduct Disorder, Adoption and Fostering National and Specialist Team at the Maudsley Hospital. Following the increasing request from Foster Carers for more practical solutions to the problems they were experiencing with their Looked After Children to manage behaviour and avoid disruptions.

The Fostering Changes Programme is behaviourally based and derives from research into parenting skills, attachment, educational attainment and the academic progression of looked after children who are in Foster Care. It is flagship course for Foster Carers that provides them with the practical skills in behaviour identification and management that will support the longevity and stability of placements and make a significant difference to a looked after child’s life.

The course is open to all foster carers regardless of their experience and relationship to the children they look after.

This course is aimed for children 12 years and under

This is an 7 week course and all parts should be attended.

Code: INC378A-C Inclusion : Inside Out: An Approach to Managing Behaviour, Removing Barriers to Learning and Engaging Young People (Cancelled)

During this three day training programme, participants will be introduced to The Empowerment Approach, an evidence-based approach to supporting young people who experience difficulties in the classroom and may present with high levels of challenging behaviour.

The training will also include a focus on the most effective support for young people with neurodiverse cognitive profiles, including strategies for
removing barriers to learning and supporting young people to achieve their very best.

This course explores research-based approaches to improving children's writing in Key Stage 2. It will develop teachers' understanding of effective sequences for writing, investigating what progression looks like across the key stage, planning for authentic writing processes, and using accurate assessment to move children forward. It will demonstrate how the use of rich texts and high quality talk can inspire a wide range of writing opportunities across the curriculum and develop children's knowledge, skills and stamina as writers.

This course provides essential information, guidance and professional development for Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs).

This 2 day training programme will provide staff with the skills, knowledge and understanding to undertake the role within an educational setting, ensuring compliance with Keeping Children Safe in Education September 2018, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2015 as well as locally developed guidance and documentation.

In order to gain your certificate you must attend both days training, however you may start in the role of DSL after completion of the first day.

Support groups provide a much needed opportunity to talk about fostering issues with other carers. They are attended by carers who have a wealth of experience, knowledge and expertise which they have accumulated through many years in fostering. The support group can offer an opportunity to share experiences and provide invaluable support to each other. Some of the support groups
will have designated speakers to share information or address a training need.

Code: GDPR09 General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) - workshop for GDPR leads in schools

This session is more suitable for GDPR leads or members of staff whose roles require them to have a deeper understanding of the new legislation, for example: Headteachers and SLT, Business Managers and Bursars or office staff.

Session aim: To explore elements of the GDPR in more detail including:

  • Advice on security breach procedures
  • Guidance on how to deal with subject access requests effectively
  • When and how to conduct Data Processing Impact Assessments (DPIAs)
  • Advice on relevant legal bases to support the production of the school ROPA.

This session will build upon the topics covered in previous in-school and INSET day sessions therefore will be useful even if the information governance team have already visited your school
