Code: CWB269A-B Attachment Based Practice with Families, Part 1- infancy, early childhood and the school years

The two-day course forms the foundation level of a programme of training on 'Attachment Based Practice with Families'. It replaces the previous 'Application of Attachment Theory' 2 day course. Practitioners who have attended the Application of Attachment Theory course are eligible to book directly on to the second part of the programme: 'Attachment Based Practice with Families, Part 2 - Adolescence, Adulthood and the Family System'

Part 1 of the course focuses on infancy and early childhood, moving up to the school years. It introduces contemporary attachment theory, its links with child development, neurobiology and the emerging field of narrative medicine. 

Attachment theory is essential for understanding how human beings function in relationships and how people develop social and psychological difficulties. It is also fundamental for understanding what constitutes psychological wellbeing.

For those new to clerking this will help unravel the demands of the job and enable you to understand how you can contribute to developing the effectiveness of the governing board.

This face-to-face session introduces new and experienced clerks to the principles of governance and the work of the clerk to the governing board of a school. Our trainer will help the clerk and chair of governors to complete an action plan to support the governing board.

Our GS01 Support, Information and Development package includes clerk induction. We can provide this service on a Pay As You Use basis.

This is a briefing and networking session for school governors about external funding opportunities. The session will cover:

  • types of funding available for schools
  • identifying funders and using resources to find funders
  • overview of "go to" funders for schools
  • Getting bid ready and looking at practicalities before you apply
  • How to write a strong application, with worked drafts available
  • frequently asked questions

The briefing will be delivered by East Sussex County Council’s Funding Advice Team who provide advice and support to community groups, charities and schools. With around 30 years’ experience within the team, they have helped all sorts of not for profits secure funding for different types of projects from different funders.

This popular workshop is delivered by CAMHS LSCB professionals. It explores the impact of adult mental health on children and young people and is for staff that directly support families where adult mental health issues or illnesses might be present.

This workshop is relevant for all East Sussex children's services practitioners working with children, young people and families assessed as level 3 or 4 on the Continuum of Need and specifically Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) and SENCOs from schools and early years providers. 

Important note: Participants will need to have undertaken the Mental Health Foundation eLearning (Modules 1 and 2) prior to attending this course (see additional information under full details) or you may be turned away.
