Code: CWA477-FUP1 Anti-Racist and Inclusive Practice in Recruitment Reflective Workshop (Virtual)

This is a live interactive virtual classroom, delivered via Zoom and Microsoft Teams.  This session is only available to invited staff, involved in the recruitment of Social Workers.

This session is split into two halves, the first is a 90 minute reflective session, delivered via Zoom by Amber & Greene, and designed as part of the Anti-Racist and Inclusive Practice in Recruitment course.  It's aim is to build awareness and provide the underpinning knowledge, skills and confidence to enable recruitment panel members to engage collaboratively in anti-racist and inclusive practice during interviews of prospective social work students.

This session features a refresher on the original course, signposting to further resources, a chance to reflect on what staff have changed and support with action planning for the future, and a Q and A session.

The second half of the session is an hour long review of the recruitment process with Nicola McGeown via Microsoft Teams, the aim of which is to ensure ideas to improve the recruitment process can be captured.

Code: LSC753 ESSCP: Trauma-Informed approaches to working with Families in a Multi Professional Context: Foundation Level

Are you working with individuals who find it challenging to engage with conventional services or offers of help? Ever asked yourself “what has happened to them” rather than “what is wrong with them?” Then this course is for you.

Trauma informed approaches are strength based and recognise that past experiences, relationships, intersectionality, and context affect current ways of being, relationships and interactions.  The Trauma informed lens reframes behaviour that has been traditionally seen as “resistant, difficult, challenging or problematic” as individuals’ best attempts at coping and surviving.  In this context it is understandably that the relationships practitioners build with people to promote safety, is emotional work, that inevitably impacts upon them.

This multi agency face to face course is facilitated by highly experienced practitioners working in a range of settings including mental health, children’s social care and university and in consultation with Recovery Partners (Experts by Experience).

There is an expectation that you have completed the online course introducing you to Trauma informed Practice ahead of the course date and read the booklet that will be e-mailed to you.  Details of the online course and the booklet will be sent to you closer to the course.

Important note: It is essential that you have undertaken the Safeguarding Children and Young People e-learning, or an equivalent within your own organisation, prior to coming on this course (see additional information under full details), or you may be turned away.
