Code: BR1P2 Building Resilience: Signposting families to the support and resources they need (Advanced)

Following the Basic or Inform Families Workshop the advanced course specialises in support for SEND families, delivered by the Family Information Service in Children's Services who established the Parent Information Contact (PIC) https://www.eastsussex.gov.uk/childrenandfamilies/familysupport/parent-information-contacts/ scheme in 2007. 

Workshop for frontline staff in working with parents including;  

Administration support staff, community support organisations, early help keyworkers, health visitors, library staff, nursery nurses, parent support advisors, school pastoral care workers, school teaching assistants and school reception staff and volunteers.

You will either need to bring a laptop and/or smart phone to the training.

This full day workshop reviews child and adolescent development including the neuroscience specific to this group. An overview of influencing factors which impacts on child development will be examined including genetic, environmental, cultural and social factors, parenting styles, physical or emotional difficulty and resilience. This workshop is relevant for all practitioners working with families antenatally or families with children and young people.

LCS Search and View is a half day of training for East Sussex County Council users to familiarise themselves with the Children’s Liquid Logic platform. This course is designed to show you how to navigate Liquid Logic, find clients and view case data and includes viewing scanned images held within ECaseFile. 

This course is for anyone joining an ESCC team that uses LCS or EHM whether to view client data or input data into the system. 

As a new staff member your manager must request that a Liquid Logic account is created for you before attending this course. When the account is created you will receive an e-mail invitation to book onto this course. Existing users are welcome to book if they wish to refresh their skills. 

You must complete this training in order to be able to access the LIVE system. The trainer will activate your account on attendance.

Rich learning starts with a rich text. This course will give delegates the opportunity to engage with a wide range of picture books, short films, rich fiction and high quality non-fiction texts in order to create learning which inpires a love of reading and genuine engagement in writing. Code: EYCP397 EYFS : Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL) Training for Childcare Settings - Initial Training (Cancelled)

This course will explain the role of the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and to give practitioners the skills to undertake the role within a childcare setting. The course facilitates achieving excellence in Child Protection and Safeguarding by giving tools to embed this into an establishment's organisational culture.

Please ensure you are familiar with the Continuum of Need and the Indicators, the Prevent Duty guidance and Information on British Values, all attached for your information.

There is an expectation that as the DSL you know the signs, indicators and pre-disposing risk factors of abuse. If you are unsure of these please ensure you access the online safeguarding children course before you attend this training. You can access this training by clicking on the Elearning tab at the top of this page.

If you have already attended this training and need to update your training you must attend the EYFS: Designated Safeguarding Leads Training for Childcare Settings – Refresher Training. The refresher course has been reviewed to support experienced DSL's who have attended the initial training. This initial course is specifically designed to meet the needs of new DSL's.

Code: CWB274A-C Attachment Based Practice with Families, Part 2 - Adolescence, Adulthood and the Family system

This three day course is a professional/advanced level of training on 'Attachment Based Practice with Families’, focusing on attachment based practice with adolescents and adults. It replaces the previous 'Introduction to Attachment Based Practice with Adults' course. It is aimed at case-holding practitioners. You must complete 'Attachment Based Practice with Families, Part 1- infancy, early childhood and the school years' or have
completed the previous 'Application of Attachment Theory' course before attending this course. Following Days 1 and 2 participants will undertake a piece of assessment work in preparation for Day 3.

Attachment theory is essential for understanding how human beings function in relationships and how people develop social and psychological difficulties. It is also fundamental for understanding what constitutes psychological wellbeing.

This course provides essential information, guidance and professional development for Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs).

This 2 day training programme will provide staff with the skills, knowledge and understanding to undertake the role within an educational setting, ensuring compliance with Keeping Children Safe in Education September 2019, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018 as well as locally developed guidance and documentation.

In order to gain your certificate you must attend both days training, however you may start in the role of DSL after completion of the first day.
