This course will explain the role of the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and to give practitioners the skills to undertake the role within a childcare setting. The course facilitates achieving excellence in Child Protection and Safeguarding by giving tools to embed this into an establishment's organisational culture.

Please ensure you are familiar with the Continuum of Need and the Indicators, the Prevent Duty guidance and Information on British Values, all attached for your information.

There is an expectation that as the DSL you know the signs, indicators and pre-disposing risk factors of abuse. If you are unsure of these please ensure you access the online safeguarding children course before you attend this training. If you have already attended this training and need to update your training you must attend the EYFS: Designated Safeguarding Leads Training for Childcare Settings – Refresher Training. The refresher course has been reviewed to support experienced DSL's who have attended the initial training. This initial course is specifically designed to meet the needs of new DSL's.

This course will update the knowledge of the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), including childminders, with the aim of renewing their DSL certificate (valid for 2 years). The course will facilitate achieving excellence in Child Protection and Safeguarding by giving tools to embed this into an organisation’s culture.

Code: CWN202 Reducing Parental Conflict (EVENT FULL)

This one day awareness course is part of the National Reducing Parental Conflict programme; training is delivered by Knowledgepool and funded
by DWP. The day is comprised of modules 2 and 3 of this programme.

This course is relevant for practitioners and volunteers working directly with parents and carers, for example: pastoral and support staff in schools, CNN's, Early Years practitioners and voluntary organisation staff and workers supporting parents experiencing conflict (whether separated or together).

Code: EYCP395 EYFS : Practitioner Child Protection Training for Childcare Settings

This course provides participants with the knowledge that will enable them to identify signs and indicators of abuse and their responsibilities in terms of responding to and highlighting any concerns, appropriately using East Sussex County Council procedures. It will also discuss the wider safeguarding role and discuss how to identify children and families who require an Early Help Plan and where to get the appropriate help and advice.

Please find attached the Continuum of Need and indicators and information on the Prevent Duty and British Values. These will be referred to during the training so please familiarise yourself with these.

This course is NOT suitable for Registered Childminders and Designated Safeguarding Leads. Please attend either the "Designated Safeguarding Leads Training for Childcare Settings - initial Training" or "Designated Safeguarding Leads Training for Childcare Settings – Refresher training" as applicable.
