Summary

This foundation stage module provides an essential basic introduction to Safeguarding Children in East Sussex. It is intended for any member of the children's workforce both as a stand alone module and as an introduction to classroom Child Protection training. This course is the replacement for the Kwango Safeguarding e-learning that is mandatory for all staff working with Children or in Children's Services.

If you are considering taking this course, we would recommend that you wait until the revised course is uploaded so you can access the most current information.

Please note that if you start the current version you will need to complete it before Friday June 5th. If you do not complete the course by this date it will be completely replaced, and you will have to start the new course from the beginning. Once you have completed the course, please download and save your certificate as this will not be available after 5th June.

Objectives
  • An awareness of current legislation and guidance and how it relates to the safety and welfare of children and young people
  • An understanding of the context in which abuse may occur
  • Knowledge of the various symptoms, indicators and risk factors associated with actual or potential abuse
  • Clarity of constraints and requirements around the levels of statutory intervention with children and their families
  • Understanding of how your role fits into the safeguarding process
  • An understanding of the importance of good observation and record keeping within your role
