Summary

 

This foundation stage module provides an essential basic introduction to Safeguarding Children in East Sussex. It is intended for any member of the children's workforce both as a stand alone module and as an introduction to classroom Child Protection training. This course is the replacement for the Kwango Safeguarding e-learning that is mandatory for all staff working with Children or in Children's Services.

Objectives

 

An awareness of current legislation and guidance and how it relates to the safety and welfare of children and young people

 

An understanding of the context in which abuse may occur

 

Knowledge of the various symptoms, indicators and risk factors associated with actual or potential abuse

 

Clarity of constraints and requirements around the levels of statutory intervention with children and their families

 

Understanding of how your role fits into the safeguarding process

 

An understanding of the importance of good observation and record keeping within your role
